Ariana Grande, Leona Lewis and Kelly Clarkson are among the stars who have tried their hand at releasing festive songs this year but it seems Mariah Carey still remains the queen of the merry season as her 1994 classic 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' which has sold more than a million copiesin the UK.
It's almost 20 years since it was released, but the jingle is still one of the most played songs every Christmas and has become the biggest hit of Mariah's career to date having reportedly generated more than $50 million in royalties around the world. According to the Official Charts Company, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' has sold 68,000 copies this year alone pushing its overall total to more than a million in the UK.

The song joins eight other festive numbers to reach a million sales with Bing Crosby's classic 'White Christmas' and Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas.' While she has sold more than 200 million records around the world, Mariah took the time to thank her fans in the UK for the achievement.
“I just landed back in the US after performing a charity show in Africa for the Red Cross and I'm driving home looking at the snow in my hometown of NYC, celebrating selling 1 million copies of 'All I Want for Christmas is You' in the UK. Thank you, thank you to all of my British fans! Love, Mariah xxxx,” Mariah said.

The track, which was written by the powerhouse diva, received a dazzling remix in 2011 when teen heartthrob Justin Bieber hopped on board to lend his own cheesy lyrics to the 'superfestive!' version.
The 43-year-old has been busy this Christmas performing at various jingle balls around the US where she has been performing the classic, however, she suffered embarrassment during her appearance at the National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in Washington last week when her voice cracked while trying to hit the high notes towards the end.
